I just finished parent teacher conferences at the high school where I teach. And yes, that means a 12 hour work day but I enjoy what I do and getting to know the families of my students. I start to understand a little better where they come from. The other cool thing about meeting the families of the students is that you start to get to know the community as a whole. I didn’t realize the impact of being a high school teacher until I started running into people I know everywhere. Not only that but the community supports its teachers and we get discounts and services all over town.
A reporter is coming to my Arabic class tomorrow. Life is good…
