The Caliph’s House: A Year in Casablanca

The Caliph’s House: A Year in Casablanca is a captivating travelogue written by British Afghan writer Tahir Shah.  He holds you at every chapter leaving stories unfinished just as his house is always unfinished and you keep reading so you can find out how he didn’t pack up and leave.  I personally enjoyed the book because so much of how Tahir Shah sees Morrocco in his book reminds me of living in England and learning about the world from the British point of view.  It was a pleasant reminder that although Americans and British speak English, they are very different.  It’s worth a read.
