Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Elder Uchtdorf is the German member of the Quorum of the Twelve among the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a modern apostle.
I loved his remarks today. He seemed to bring a German perspective to the message he gave. He cautioned us to slow down rather than speed up when life becomes challenging. (Americans are known for adding more to our list when it might not be necessary. See the article from Open Forum: “Why Germans Have Longer Vacation Times and More Productivity”)
When talking about space flight and ball point pens he referred to the people who travel in space as “astronauts and cosmonauts”, which to me decentralizes us from a US church to a more appropriate international church.
“Get to know yourself better.” “Let us simplify our lives a little.” “Simple humble path of Christian dicipleship.” These are some of the quotes I caught.

His was my favorite talk. I loved the opening joke and the overall message.
P.S. After reading the link to the article, I think I was made to be a German worker. Meetings, meetings, meetings…so many meetings I’ve been to in the workplace with so little getting done. I actually enjoy meetings but more as a social experiment/observation than because I think they lead to much productivity. I am totally that individual worker at heart.
