Today is a day to celebrate 10. So in honor of this day of 10s, here is my list of 10 things for which I am grateful.
1. You. I’m really grateful for people who read my blog. I feel like you know a part of me that few people do. Thanks for taking the time.
2. My family. I get a lot of my khudspa from family who don’t let me take a side line to anything. They are participators and oppinionators. I consider my family in this context to include my extended family as well. Thanks guys.
3. Living in DC. I love this place. People here are interested in making the world a better place. They are engaged, diverse, and interesting. There are tons of things to do; there’s never a dull moment, unless you want one.
4. Arabic. I love speaking Arabic and all the opportunities that have come with the language. Today I’ve spoken to two friends in Arabic, amazing me that I’m getting a chance to improve my skills in the language. It’s a language that has a transporting quality for me because I am forced to think in new ways.
5. Interpreting. I love the opportunities I get from interpreting. I am all over the city meeting people and learning new things. I love that because of the kind of job it is, I get to work for myself because of this job and have flexibility.
6. Roommates. They are so great. They are all interesting and I can be myself with them. We hang out all the time and they are all engaged in life and can hold their own.
7. Easier Hours. Amazing as this sounds, I’m working less and making more than I was in Utah. Teachers work until they drop there and then they don’t get paid for it. Loved the job but I’m a happier me when I can balance my life.
8. My Cool Room. My friend is letting me borrow her furniture for the year. It was all blue. I added my orange/ethnic/Middle Eastern bedspread and pillows so the room is now orange and blue. They are complimentary colors which pop whenever I walk in the room. It makes me happy.
9. Location. I live within walking distance to the metro and 3-5 min drive from the beltway. It’s beautiful for traveling to different places all the time.
10. The Weather. Right now the weather is perfect. I must be grateful while it’s here. This is a good time of year. We’re approaching the holidays, it’s sweater and scarf season but it’s not too cold.

Score….I’m thankful for you too…ana bahibik…
Love it! I am thankful for bossom friends like you.
Man, I miss DC when I read your posts. But I’m glad that it is suiting you so well!
