What I Subscribe to in Print

Fortune Magazine

Here’s a list of what I subscribe to:

-The Economist A British publication, I discovered it during my masters degree in England. Found that I enjoyed the dynamics of the international political economy more than I thought. It’s not all about finance, though. It’s dense and you have to be ready for details; the top weekly for international politics.

-Martha Stewart Living Visually engaging, I enjoy the slightly oversized copy of tips and tricks for home. Yes, many don’t like Martha, but her attention to detail in explanations has made her how-to’s manageable for anyone.

-Fortune It’s about the world of finance and easy to digest in a quick sitting. Numbers thread the stories: top tens, highlighted stats, dollar figures. The number approach solidifies ideas for me.

-MESA Journal Scholarly reports on the latest in the Middle East. MESA stands for Middle East Studies Association.

-The Ensign Magazine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They’ve recently shortened the lengths of their feature articles and modernized their look. These are articles about faith but also about church related current events, history, regional reports, and how-to’s.

-Writer’s Digest Trade tips and interviews about writing and publication.  Of the writing periodicals, this one seems to hit my target.

I really like posts like this. It’s such a concrete way to get to know a person. We can talk about ourselves and say what we think we’re like, but what we subscribe to, or actually read, or carry in our wallets, etc. presents some kind of more objective measure. Anyway, from this I learn that you are very well-read and an intelligent consumer of information…but of course, I already knew that since I know you in real life :)
